ARREST MADE IN 2019 ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE

On Sunday, September 8, 2019, at approximately 1:06 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a call of a large fight in the area of North Broadway and West Main Street. Officers arrived on scene and located a female victim in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle, which immediately fled the area.

The female victim was unconscious and was taken to a local area hospital and treated for multiple serious injuries. Officers remained on scene and collected evidence, processed the crime scene and conducted multiple witness interviews.

Officers learned the incident began as a result of a large fight between two separate groups. The driver, who had been involved in this altercation, was seen intentionally driving his red or burgundy Honda sedan toward a group of people in the area of North Broadway and West Main Street.

Turlock Police Detectives took over this investigation and conducted additional interviews and reviewed surveillance footage from multiple downtown businesses. Through their investigation, Detectives were able to identify the driver as, Larry Lee, 20-years old, resident of Modesto. An arrest warrant was obtained for Lee in December of 2019.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at approximately 5:57 p.m., Officers from the Turlock Police Department Special Investigation Unit (SIU) spotted Lee and arrested him in the 2200 block of Annhurst Avenue, during a traffic stop. Lee was booked without incident at the Stanislaus County Jail on the warrant for attempted homicide.
