April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month Turlock, CA—In its efforts to prevent distracted driving and save lives on our roads, the Turlock Police Department is reminding all drivers to stay focused, keep their eyes forward and keep their hands on the wheel. Whether checking a phone, eating or adjusting the radio, distractions can have devastating consequences.

Turlock, CA – On March 18, 2025, at approximately 12:54 p.m., Turlock Police officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault in the 100 block of South Golden State Blvd.

Turlock, CA – The Turlock Police Department, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, conducted an online chat operation from March 6-8, 2025, in the city of Turlock. This operation targeted individuals attempting to engage in illicit activities with underage children. The multi-agency effort resulted in the arrest of twelve (12) individuals on felony sex-related charges.

Turlock Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads. The grant program runs through September 2025.

On Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at approximately 1:38 P.M., Turlock Police Dispatch received a 911 call advising that a bank robbery had just occurred at the US Bank, located at 427 E. Olive Ave. The caller reported that a male subject entered the bank with a briefcase and told a bank employee there was an explosive device in the briefcase. The subject then demanded money and claimed he had the ability to detonate the device. The subject left the business with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving the briefcase inside the bank. He then fled the area in a white Lexus.

Turlock, CA – During the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Turlock Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a man had just been shot in the 1800 block of Lander Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene and found Jose Tamayo-Morales, 18, of Modesto, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. An officer began performing CPR, but despite lifesaving efforts, Jose was pronounced dead at the scene.

Turlock, CA – On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Turlock Police officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of West Monte Vista Avenue in response to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, 49-year-old Enrique Gomez from Turlock, on the ground and began administering first aid. Despite their efforts, and those of Turlock Fire and Patterson District Ambulance, Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Turlock, CA – On September 5, 2024, Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested Santiago Cornejo, a 21-year-old Turlock resident, after it was reported he was contacting and meeting a 13-year-old for sexual activity.

Turlock, CA – The Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigated two separate gang-related shootings in the 400 block of Locust Street that occurred just days apart. The shootings resulted in two victims being injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds. SIU investigators quickly got to work and were able to identify those involved in the shooting.

Turlock, California – As summer draws to a close and students prepare to return to school, the Turlock Police Department reminds all drivers to prioritize safety during the upcoming Back to School Month by slowing down, following the speed limit, and being extra careful driving through school zones.

Share the Road and Look Out for One Another During Bicycle Safety Month Turlock, California. — May is National Bicycle Safety Month, and the Turlock Police Department is encouraging everyone to get active and safely take bike rides while at the same time reminding drivers to be on the lookout for more people biking and walking.

Turlock, California — During Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in May, the Turlock Police Department would like to remind drivers to always look twice for motorcycles. By practicing safe driving habits and taking shared responsibility on our roads, we can help everyone arrive at their destination safely.

Turlock, California – The Turlock Police Department encourages the public to celebrate Cinco de Mayo responsibly by planning ahead and designating a sober driver.

Turlock, CA – On April 16, 2024 at approximately 6:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Wayside Drive for a report of a shooting that had just occurred. When officers arrived on-scene, they located two (2) gunshot victims and immediately began rendering aid. One of the victims was struck multiple times in the arm and was taken to a Modesto hospital where his injuries were determined to be non-life threatening. The second victim, Amado “Dominic” Escobedo III, 19 of Ceres, was located in the roadway. Despite lifesaving measures, Dominic was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Turlock, CA – On April 9, 2024, Detectives and the Turlock Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.), arrested Manmeet Sarang, 36 of Fremont, after he traveled to Turlock in hopes of meeting and engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old decoy.

Turlock, CA – On April 10, 2024, at approximately 5:06 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a suspicious person looking into vehicles in the 900 block of Vermont Avenue in Turlock. As the responding officer attempted to contact the suspect, later identified as Corey Pollard, 37 of Turlock, he fled on foot. As the second officer arrived on-scene, the officers ordered Pollard to comply, but he did not. The suspect presented an object in a threatening manner. At that moment, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Turlock, California – April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and a time to put safety in the driver’s seat. The Turlock Police Department will be actively looking for drivers throughout the month who are in violation of the state’s hands-free cell phone law.

Turlock, CA – On March 28, 2024, Turlock Police Department Detectives and the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) served a search warrant at three (3) residences in the 400 block of S. First Street in Turlock for an alleged animal cruelty investigation and possible dogfighting. The investigation began in early March 2024 after Turlock Animal Services expressed their concerns based on prior contacts in the area. Animal Control Officer Borges took the initiative to compile all documentation related to the addresses and handed it over to Detectives for review.

TURLOCK, CA – In February 2024, the Turlock Police Special Investigations Unit began an investigation regarding a sophisticated illegal black-market cannabis cultivation operation. The investigation revealed multiple addresses affiliated with the target location with five (5) in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction, two (2) in the City of Turlock, and one (1) in the City of Ceres. The Turlock Police Department partnered with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Ceres Police Department, Modesto Police Department, the Bureau of Cannabis Control, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the execution of these search warrants.

TURLOCK, CA – Officers from the Turlock Police Department, in support of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), visited seven (7) ABC licensed businesses on March 18, 2024, conducting IMPACT inspections designed to address violations before problems occur. Officers noted at least one administrative violation at each establishment. A follow-up inspection will be conducted at a later date, giving business owners the opportunity to correct the violation(s).

Turlock, Ca – On February 20, 2024, Turlock Police Department received a call from a school employee who wanted to report a suspicious incident involving a minor student and an unknown adult male. The reporting party stated they witnessed an unknown adult male handing food and clothing to the student near the school’s perimeter fence. After speaking with the student, school staff immediately called police to investigate. The officer’s investigation identified the adult male as Rene Ledezma, a 52-year-old Modesto resident, and a Turlock Transit bus driver.

Turlock, Ca – On Monday, February 12, 2024, at approximately 7:46 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a verbal disturbance in the 1700 block of Elmcrest Court in the city of Turlock. The caller reported that Gerardo Partida, 26 of Turlock, was inside the residence and had threatened to assault her. According to the reporting party, Partida was under the influence of narcotics and was known to carry a firearm. Additionally, Partida had a felony no-bail warrant for his arrest, and was on Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS).

Turlock, Ca – On February 1, 2024, Turlock Police S.W.A.T. Team, with the help of Merced County Sheriff’s Office, and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at a residence in the 2900 block of North Waring Road in Denair, Ca. Jose Elizalde, a 29-year-old Denair resident, was located at the residence and was arrested for an attempted robbery that occurred on January 25, 2024, in Turlock.

On January 5th and 6th, 2024, the Turlock Police Department conducted an online chat operation in the city of Turlock. The mission of this operation was to catch predators that were seeking to meet with underaged children for the purpose of sexual activity. This operation was complex in nature and involved the coordinated effort of multiple agencies and various police department units.

On January 3, 2024, Detective Urban received notification from an allied agency regarding a possible suspect and vehicle being involved in installing a skimming device at an ATM. At approximately 12:57, while utilizing License Plate Readers (L.P.R.s), Detective Urban located the vehicle in the drive-thru of the Westamerica Bank on Geer Road in Turlock. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle for equipment violations.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested 42-year-old John Snoke, resident of Turlock, after receiving a CyberTip regarding child pornography distribution. This tip was investigated by Turlock Police Detective Giovacchini which led to the identity of the individual who had uploaded images to an internet-based application.

Turlock, California – On December 21, 2023, the Turlock Police Department will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Checkpoint December 21st from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the city.

National “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Enforcement Campaign Begins Dec. 13 Turlock, California – The holiday season can be a dangerous time for people on the roads. In December 2021 alone, 1,013 people were killed in the U.S. in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Turlock Police Department wants to remind the public of the dangers of driving impaired and celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving under the influence.

On November 6, 2023, at approximately 5:52 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 3100 block of West Christoffersen Parkway. When officers arrived on scene, they located an unresponsive male laying in the center median with severe head trauma. Turlock Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel assessed and transported the male to a local area hospital. Shortly after arrival at the hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.

Turlock, California – The Turlock Police Department was awarded a $110,000.00 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The grant will support our ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads.

On October 16, 2023, at approximately 9:32 p.m., the Turlock Police Department responded to the 1000 block of East Springer Drive for a report of an aggravated assault. The reporting party, who lives at the residence, arrived back home and found her parents with obvious life-threatening injuries.

Turlock, Calif. – Turlock Police Department arrested 16 drivers suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) during a nearly three-week period through Labor Day weekend.

On September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.), with the assistance from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (C.D.T.F.A.) and City of Turlock personnel, executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Lander Avenue, after the City of Turlock was notified of illegal marijuana sales along with flavored tobacco sales in violation of state law. In addition to the search warrant, teams conducted compliance checks at various smoke shops around Turlock.

Turlock, California – As the summer travel season wraps up, the Turlock Police Department reminds drivers to stay safe and be responsible by never driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Turlock, California – The Turlock Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint on August 18, 2023 from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the city.

Turlock, California – As students head back to the classroom, the Turlock Police Department reminds parents and residents to slow down, follow the speed limit and be extra careful driving through school zones.

On June 15, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) and Central Valley Gang Impact Taskforce (C.V.G.I.T.) executed a search warrant at the 1000 block of West Avenue South. Officers located and seized 24.75 pounds of powdered Fentanyl. Additionally, evidence of narcotic sales was found in the residence.

Turlock, CA – On June 2, 2023, the Turlock Police Department received a 9-1-1 call at 10:46 p.m. advising of a stabbing that had just occurred in the 2000 Block of N. Daubenberger Rd. Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the sidewalk and immediately began to administer First Aid and CPR until Turlock Fire Department and AMR personnel arrived on scene.

Turlock Police Department’s K9 Ace has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from a non-profit organization called Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Ace’s vest was sponsored by the National Police Association and embroidered with the sentiment “Gifted by NationalPolice.Org”.

On February 25, 2023, at approximately 10:22 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a robbery at PNC Bank, 1955 Geer Road. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male between 40 and 45 years of age, wearing a Jordan brand hooded sweatshirt and black watch cap. The suspect was last seen running from the bank heading westbound on Pedras Road.

Turlock, California – The Turlock Police Department reminds everyone taking a trip to visit friends or family over the Memorial Day weekend to always buckle up and keep children in child safety seats.

On May 17, 2023, at approximately 12:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Days Inn, 185 North Tully Road, regarding a call of a bomb threat. Officers met with hotel management who reported the cleaning staff discovered a room was still occupied by a guest, despite being well past checkout time. The guest refused to leave and reported to staff he had a bomb with him while inside the bathroom.

On May 1, 2023, at approximately 7:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Shady Lane for a report of a domestic violence call for service. Officers met with the female victim who reported her 29-year-old ex-boyfriend, Golden Duwane Dupree, had been staying at her residence temporarily after the two had been estranged for a period of time. The victim reported Dupree physically and verbally abused her and their juvenile son. Dupree, the victim, and their child left the apartment to get food at a local restaurant. While outside the apartment, Dupree made additional threats to the victim. Officers met with the victim and were unsuccessful in getting Dupree to cooperate. The victim and child went to a safe location, Dupree refused to come out of the apartment, and officer pursued charges against him.

Turlock, CA – On March 23, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued in Stanislaus County after Turlock Police Department Detectives identified 22-year-old Gary Harold Jackson Jr. as the suspect in the shooting death of 21-year-old Romeo Xavier Portillo. The shooting occurred during the early morning hours of January 14, 2023, in Downtown Turlock.

On January 25, 2021, Turlock Police investigated a robbery that occurred at the Bank of the West in the 2100 block of Fulkerth Road. This investigation involved a male suspect driving a gray BMW sedan. The suspect parked the BMW near a bank ATM machine, which was being used by an elderly female.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Turlock Police Department received a call of a solo vehicle rollover collision in the 4000 block of West Linwood Avenue. As officers responded to the scene, it was reported that the vehicle was on fire and the solo occupant was able to get out of the vehicle.

On November 23, 2022, at approximately 11:04 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of an armed robbery at a business located in the 100 block of East Glenwood Avenue. A victim employee described the responsible as a Hispanic male armed with a handgun. The responsible was last seen running from the business heading east toward an awaiting vehicle.

Turlock, CA – On March 1, 2023, Turlock Police Detectives and Investigators with the Turlock Police Department Special Investigation Unit (S.I.U.) located Alejandro Rosales Ortuno, 23 years-old, at a Los Banos residence. Ortuno was identified as the person responsible for the January 15, 2023, shooting death of Turlock resident, Robert Morgan.

Turlock, CA – In response to back-to-back shootings outside the Grand Cru, Turlock Police Chief Jason Hedden conducted an evaluation of the safety and operational practices of the establishment, and as a result, has implemented administrative amendments to the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) of the Grand Cru. Additionally, updates have been made for both The Udder Place and Grand Cru bars to increase the ratio of security to patrons to double the numbers previously approved in the CUP process.

Turlock, CA – The Turlock Police Department received a 9-1-1 call this morning at 1:38 a.m. reporting a shooting behind the Udder Place and Grand Cru in downtown Turlock. Officers were immediately dispatched to the reported location and found a 31-year old male victim, identified as Robert Morgan of Turlock, laying on the ground and CPR was in process by uninvolved persons.

Turlock, CA – At 2:06 a.m. this morning, Turlock Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a man who reported a shooting in the vicinity of Market Street and South Broadway in Downtown Turlock. Officers responded to the scene and identified evidence that indicated at least one person had been struck by gunfire, but individuals involved were no longer at the crime scene.

On Friday, December 30, 2022, at approximately 11:52 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the intersection of South Avenue and South Orange Street for a call of an illegal sideshow in front of Wakefield Elementary School. Deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the location to assist with traffic enforcement and dispersal attempts. While officers were on scene, unknown participants of the sideshow started pointing lasers at officers.

On Monday, December 12, 2022, acting on a tip, Turlock Police Officers responded to the 1300 block of West Linwood Avenue to check on the welfare of a man. Officers were told a man, who had possibly been assaulted, could be found in an abandoned building.

Turlock, California. – With a commitment to keeping the community safe, the Turlock Police Department wants to remind the public of the dangers of driving impaired and celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving under the influence.

On December 9, 2022, Chief Jason Hedden announced that Captain Miguel Pacheco has graduated as a member of the 284th session of the FBI National Academy.  The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on December 8, 2022.  Captain Pacheco is the 13th officer in department history to complete this prestigious program.  Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.

On Friday, October 28 th, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., The Turlock Special Weapons and Tactics Team, with the help of Investigators with the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) and Detectives with the Turlock Police Department, served a search and arrest warrant for 38 year-old Asuncion Quintero in the 800 block of High Street. The arrest and search warrant at Quintero’s residence was part of a monthslong multi-agency drug trafficking investigation dubbed, Operation Trifecta. The investigation was led by the Madera Narcotics Enforcement Team, the High-Intensity Investigation Team, the Fresno Drug Enforcement Administration with the assistance of Turlock Police S.I.U. and other allied agencies.

Turlock, California. – The Turlock Police Department will increase patrols throughout the community and provide other traffic safety programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads.

On October 13, 2022, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the driver involved in Tuesday afternoons fatal hit and run collision walked into the Turlock Police Department to turn himself in. The driver has been identified as Armando Michael Arreola, a 25-year-old Turlock resident.

On October 11, 2022, at approximately 3:31 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 2100 block of Fulkerth Road. When officers arrived on scene, Paramedics with American Medical Response (AMR) were already performing life-saving measures on a male who was in the roadway of the westbound lanes of Fulkerth Road. Despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On October 11, 2022, at approximately 3:31 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 2100 block of Fulkerth Road. When officers arrived on scene, Paramedics with American Medical Response (AMR) were already performing life-saving measures on a male who was in the roadway of the westbound lanes of Fulkerth Road. Despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On October 5, 2022, Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested Modesto resident Catrina Moreno, 42 years-old, for financial elder abuse after an investigation that began on September 2, 2022.

Early today, September 22, 2022, Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested Turlock residents Kevin Edwards, 55 years-old, and Andrea Bodine-Edwards, 53 years-old, on arrest warrants for financial elder abuse. 

On September 12, 2022, the Turlock Police Department made a second arrest related to the investigation into the homicide that occurred on September 9, 2022. 

On Friday, September 9, 2022, Turlock Police investigated a homicide at the intersection of Lander Avenue and Bernell Avenue.  28 year-old, Modesto resident, David Gomez Mendoza, was stabbed and later died as a result of his injuries. 

On Friday, September 9, 2022, at approximately 8:18 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a report of a stabbing near the intersection of Lander Avenue and Bernell Avenue. 

Turlock, California. – The Turlock Police Department arrested fifteen drivers suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) during a nearly three-week period through Labor Day weekend.

On August 23, 2022, at approximately 11:02 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of an armed robbery at business located in the 1600 block of Lander Avenue.  A victim employee described the responsible as a White female with a thin build, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun.  The responsible was last seen running from the business and fleeing in a gold colored SUV.

On August 11, 2022, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a shooting outside a gas station at West Main Street and North Tully Road. Shortly after the incident, officers located and arrested Aaron Martinez, 39-years old, a Keyes resident, on attempt homicide charges.

This morning, August 17, 2022, at approximately 10:48 a.m., officers assigned to the Turlock Police Department Crime Prevention Unit and Code Enforcement Division, were conducting a traffic enforcement contact on a recreational vehicle, illegally parked in the 2600 block of Polous Drive.

Thursday afternoon, August 11, 2022, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of a shooting outside a gas station in the 100 block of West Main Street. Officers arrived on scene and located the shooting victim in a nearby parking lot. The adult male victim suffered a single, non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower body. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

On Monday, July 11, 2022, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a report of two males fighting in the 500 block of Castor Street.  Prior to their arrival, officers learned it was a stabbing.

Turlock, California. – On Friday, July 8, 2022, at approximately 7:00 P.M., a Turlock Police Department Motorcycle Officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the area around the Stanislaus County Fair. He saw a silver Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed on West Canal Drive. The officer caught up to the Honda and stopped it for vehicle code violations.

On Friday, June 24, 2022, at approximately 11:31 a.m., Turlock Police officers were called to the 2300 block of Lander Avenue responding to an attempted attack by an Amazon delivery driver on a female resident near the front door of her home.

On May 27, 2021, at approximately 3:26 a.m., Turlock Police Department received a burglary alarm call at Turlock Junior High School, 3951 N Walnut Rd. When they arrived, they located a juvenile male in the office and took him into custody. Further investigation revealed the juvenile male was burglarizing the office. He was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall for 459PC – burglary, a felony.

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, Turlock Police Department Detectives followed up on two Cyber Tips they had received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. These tips were investigated by High Tech Crimes Detectives which led them to two separate Turlock homes.

On Thursday, May 5, 2022, at approximately 6:55 a.m., Officers were dispatched to a call of a male subject sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle in a parking lot located at a gas station at 101 North Tully Road. Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle that matched the description given, a black Nissan sedan. Officers suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and could see there was a male behind the wheel who was awake and moving inside.

On Friday, May 6, 2022, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a 9.1.1 call of a rape that had just occurred at the Days Inn, 185 North Tully Road.  Officers arrived on scene within minutes and detained a male standing near the office who matched the description of the suspect.  This man was later determined to be Osman Mukhammadiyev, 29–years old, resident of Springfield, Massachusetts, and a long-haul truck driver.

On Sunday, May 1, 2022, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of East Main Street. Before the officers arrived on scene, Dispatch received a second call from a Turlock resident reporting he, too, had been assaulted by the same group of individuals. Evidence later confirmed it was an unprovoked attack that left the adult male victim with serious bodily injuries to his face and torso.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at approximately 11:14 a.m., Investigators with the Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrested 26-year old Christian Alberto Alvarado at his Modesto home in connection with an April 17, 2022, sexual assault investigation.   

The good Samaritan who pulled a man out of a burning vehicle during the early morning hours of April 14, 2022, has been located and identified.  The man, who requested not to be named, came forward after being urged to do so by a friend who learned of his courageous actions.   

On April 13, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Turlock Police Department Officers responded to Emmanuel Medical Center regarding a call of an infant death after hospital staff reported suspected child abuse. Detectives responded and took over the investigation.

During the early morning hours today, at approximately 12:09 a.m., the Turlock Fire Department responded to calls of a vehicle fire in the 200 block of D Street.  At least two witnesses heard the boom from the tires popping, as a result of the intense heat, which led them to report the fire.

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, at approximately 3:21 p.m., Investigators with the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) and Officers with the Turlock Police Department arrested 20 year-old Turlock resident Noel Nazar-Pour in the 2900 block of Crowell Road.  The arrest and search warrant at Nazar-Pour’s residence in the 2700 block of Meadowbrook Lane was part of a months-long investigation into firearms trafficking by Turlock Police S.I.U. 

On March 8, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received calls of a shooting in the area of Geer Road and Wayside Drive.  Officers responded to the scene and located a light colored sedan, which was reportedly involved in the shooting, fleeing the area.  The suspect fled as a Turlock officer patrolling in the area attempted a vehicle stop.  Officers pursued the vehicle to the 1300 block of North Quincy Road, where the vehicle crashed into a fence.  The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Livingston resident, Juan Francisco Ibarra-Tapia, fled on foot which sparked a local area search. 

On Monday, February 21, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested 60 year-old Kenneth Steven Tharp, resident of Turlock, after receiving a child pornography Cyber Tip on January 26, 2022.  This tip was investigated by a High Tech Crimes Detective which led her to the identity of the individual who uploaded images to an internet based application.   

During the evening hours of February 11 and 12, 2022, officers from the Turlock Special Investigations Unit (SIU) participated in a multi-agency Human Trafficking Operation, which is known as “Operation Rebuild and Reclaim.”  The operation is a collaboration of agencies around the state with the common goal of identifying those people involved in Human Trafficking and to rescue victims of Human Trafficking. 

On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., High Tech Detectives with the Turlock Police Department again, arrested Alejandro Daniel Valenzuela, 26 years, resident of Turlock. Valenzuela was initially arrested by Turlock Police Detectives on January 26, 2022, as a result of a Cyber Tip regarding child pornography. Valenzuela was still in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail and is now facing additional charges of possession of child pornography.

On Thursday, January 27, 2022, Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested 38 year-old Daniel James Baudino for a third time.  The Turlock teacher was identified as the responsible suspect in an on-going investigation of sex crimes that are believed to have occurred between 2015 to 2019. 

On Thursday, January 26, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested 26 year-old Alejandro Daniel Valenzuela, resident of Turlock, after receiving a Cyber tip regarding child pornography the previous day. This tip was investigated by a High Tech Crimes Detective which led him to the identity of the owner of the electronic device used in these crimes.

Turlock, California. – On Thursday, December 16, 2021, an officer involved shooting occurred in the 600 block of High Street in Turlock. Initially, two individuals were located and taken into custody, but evidence available at the time resulted in one subject being released.

On Thursday, December 16, 2021, at about 5:30 pm, an officer involved shooting occurred in the 600 block of High Street in Turlock. Following a multi-jurisdictional response and investigation, it appears there may have been only one suspect shooter involved.

On Thursday, at about 5:30 pm, an officer involved shooting occurred in the 600 block of High Street in Turlock. This shooting stemmed from a separate freeway shooting that occurred the prior evening, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, which investigators from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Central Division Investigative Services Unit were working.

On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 5:22 pm, Turlock Police Department Detectives and Investigators assigned to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrested Nathan Leroy Davis Sharp, 31 years, at his Turlock home, located in the 1200 block of Lambert Way.

On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, Investigators with the Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) received information from the Santa Clara Police Department of a possible juvenile human trafficking victim that was believed to be frequenting the Turlock area.  The juvenile was considered to be high risk based on the circumstances in the missing person report.

On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at approximately 8:55 am, Investigators with the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) and Detectives with the Turlock Police Department served a search warrant in the 2800 block of Lassiter Lane, which is located in a commercial area of the city of Turlock. 

On Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 10:53 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the intersection of Lander Avenue and E. Glenwood Avenue.  As officers were responding, a witness updated Dispatchers that they were now following the responsible driver who was on scene, but was now leaving in their vehicle.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Turlock Police Detectives arrested Miguel Perez (aka Victor Quiroz), a 37 year old male from Ceres, for multiple rental property fraud scams posted on Facebook Marketplace.

Turlock, California. – As part of Child Passenger Safety Week, the Turlock Police Department wants to make sure your child is in the right child safety seat.

A string of armed robberies at two AM/PM stores located in Turlock comes to an end after the suspect, Isaac Harp, a 19 year old male from Turlock, was arrested on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

Turlock, California. – On June 15, 2021, a homeless female adult reported to the Turlock Police Department that the previous evening she was picked up on Geer Road by a Hispanic male adult she described as 6 feet tall and about 250 pounds. He was driving a dark SUV. The suspect offered her a ride and told her he would “help her out.” After initially declining, the victim consented to the ride as the suspect was persistent. Instead of taking her to where she was going, he drove behind a closed business and raped her by force. The victim cooperated with the investigation and consented to a medical sexual assault investigation, where biological evidence was located.

Turlock, California. – The Turlock Police Department will hold a DUI Checkpoint September 4th from 10:00 PM until 1:30 AM at an undisclosed location within Turlock city limits. 

As part of Pedestrian Safety Month, the Turlock Police Department is supporting efforts throughout September to improve pedestrian safety and help reduce crashes and injuries.

On Friday, August 20, 2021, at 11:07 p.m., Turlock Police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Pedras Road for the report of a shooting that had occurred that left one male victim with a gunshot wound.

As students head back to the classroom, schools and the communities around them are going to be busier than they’ve been since the start of the pandemic.

On Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 5:23 p.m., Turlock Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Park Street and N Soderquist Road for two males that appeared to be breaking into a community mailbox.

On Thursday, July 29, 2021, at approximately 10:37 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the loading dock in the 3000 block of Geer Road. Officers responded to the scene and discovered a male, who was believed to be sleeping, had been run over by the tires of a delivery vehicle that was in the process of backing into the loading dock of the business.

On Monday, July 26, 2021, at 1:51 am, the Turlock Police Department received calls that someone had been shot at a local bar in the 100 block of West Main Street in downtown Turlock.  Multiple officers responded to the area.  As an officer was approaching the back parking lot of the business, they were flagged down by someone who was with one of the victims.  The victim had at least one gunshot wound and was seated in a vehicle parked in a nearby parking lot.  The officer was able to provide medical aid to the victim until an ambulance and the Fire Department arrived to transport the victim to a local hospital. A second gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital on their own.  Preliminary reports state that the extent of both injuries are not life threatening. 

On Thursday, July 22, 2021, Turlock Police Department Detectives arrested 26 year old Vy Timmy Tuy, resident of Turlock, following a two-month investigation that originated after receiving three Cyber tips on May 20, 2021. These tips were investigated by a High Tech Crimes Detective and leads in the investigation pointed them to a residence located in the 1300 block of Geer Road.

On Friday, July 9, 2021, at approximately 8:56 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer that had been rear-ended by a motorcyclist in the 4000 block of West Main Street.  Officers responded to the scene and discovered the motorcyclist had died and life saving measures were not possible.  The motorcyclist is described as a white male adult in his thirties.  The identity of the motorcyclist is not being released until the male can be positively identified and next of kin notified. 

On Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 8:16 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received multiple calls reporting a male subject with a handgun was chasing a female in the 800 block of Angelus.  Witnesses also reported they heard the sounds of shots fired.

On Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 8:15 a.m., Turlock Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Sunnyside Drive for an arson. Prior to police officers’ and fire department personnel’s arrival, a neighbor noticed the fire and ran across the street to awaken the three adults and three young children who were all sleeping inside. The neighbor alerted the residents and they all safely exited without injury.

On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Investigators with the Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) received information of a possible juvenile human trafficking victim that was believed to be frequenting the local area.

On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Turlock Police Animal Services Officers were made aware of a residence in Turlock that was over the legal limit of three dogs per household. Animal Services Officers made contact with the resident, who said the animals were believed to be strays found around Turlock and agreed to surrender the animals.

Turlock, California. — May is National Bicycle Safety Month, and Turlock Police Department is encouraging drivers to slow down when passing bicyclists, and asks bicyclists to be visible, predictable, and safe on the road. “Bicyclists are safest when they act like and are treated the same as drivers,” Sergeant David Hall said. “Please share the road with bicyclists and think of them as your closest friends or family. We all want to get where we need to go safely, whether that is in the car or on a bike.” Turlock Police Department suggests the following safety tips for bicyclists and drivers: Drivers - Slow down. Give at least three to five feet of space when passing a bicyclist. - Wait for a safe place to pass when driving behind a bicycle, especially on narrow roads. California law requires drivers to provide at least three feet of space between a vehicle and bicycle. - If making a right turn, assume a bicyclist is traveling through the intersection unless they signal otherwise. - When making a left turn, yield to oncoming bicyclists just as you would for other drivers. - Look for bicyclists before opening a car door. - Never drive distracted or impaired. Bike Riders - Be predictable, safe, and seen, obey traffic laws, use hand signals, use lights at night (front white light and rear red reflector), and wear a helmet. - Bicyclists must travel in the same direction of traffic and have the same requirements as any slow-moving vehicle. - Avoid the door zone, do not ride too closely to parked cars. - If there’s a bike lane, use it, unless making a left turn, passing, or approaching a place where a right turn is allowed. - Yield to pedestrians. Bicyclists must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians within marked crosswalks or within unmarked crosswalks at intersections. On Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 10:22 pm, Turlock Police Dispatch received a report of a kidnapping in progress in the 600 block of Geer Road. The suspect, Alisha Gonzalez, a 26 year old female from Turlock, had kidnapped her juvenile child whom she does not have legal custody of. The child was at a relative’s house visiting, when Gonzalez arrived and put the juvenile in the back seat of her vehicle. Before Gonzalez could drive away, another adult family member got into the vehicle to prevent Gonzalez from leaving alone with the child. Gonzalez drove away in a gray Nissan Murano and later pushed the adult family member out of the vehicle.

On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at approximately 11:05 pm, Turlock firefighters were on duty in the area of West Monte Vista Avenue and North Berkeley Avenue. There was heavy traffic as a result of a sideshow incident that was occurring in the area, which caused the fire engine to be temporarily blocked.

On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 7:41 pm, Turlock Police Officers made a traffic stop for vehicle code violations in the 400 block of Lander Avenue. During the traffic stop, officers detained four subjects and established probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. Twenty-eight pounds of pre-packaged marijuana along with approximately $35,000 was discovered. The marijuana had an approximate street value of $28,000.

On Monday, May 3, 2021, at approximately 12:37 am, the Turlock Police Department received calls of a bicyclist who had been struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of Lander Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, later determined to be Francisco Javier Castellon-Gonzalez, 22 years old, of Modesto, fled the scene while driving a white 2009 GMC pickup.

On Friday, April 23, 2021, at approximately 3:13 am, a masked, Hispanic male adult robbed a Turlock convenience store located in the 1600 block of West Main Street. Witnesses who were contacted at the scene reported to Officers that the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

On August 4, 2020, at approximately 1:03 a.m., Turlock Police responded to a call of an aggravated assault in progress in the 500 block of Twentieth Century Boulevard. When officers arrived, they located Amythest Cortez, 27 years, of Gustine who was shot. Despite advanced medical care, Ms. Cortez and her unborn baby died.

On Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 12:20 am, Turlock Police officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of W. Monte Vista Avenue for the report of an injury accident of a solo vehicle that had collided into a fire hydrant and an irrigation box.

On March 15, 2021, at approximately 6:53 am, the Turlock Police Department was called to the intersection of W. Monte Vista Ave and Del’s Ln for the report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

Since mid-February, there have been 12 reported incidents of rims and tires being stolen off of vehicles overnight, leaving the victims to find their vehicle on bricks/cinder blocks in the morning. The targeted vehicles are newer models of Toyota Corollas, Toyota Camry’s, and Honda Accords with stock sport rims and tires. Of the 12 reported

On March 10, 2021, at approximately 5:05 pm, Owen Ramos, 23 years, resident of Modesto, was arrested in connection to the May 20, 2020, robbery and homicide that occurred in the 4300 block of Cherry Blossom Lane. Ramos is the third and final suspect wanted in this investigation. Ramos was identified as the driver involved in this incident. Ramos voluntarily came to Turlock Police Department and was subsequently arrested and booked at the Stanislas County Jail for robbery and unrelated warrants.

The vehicle involved the fatal hit and run that occurred on Saturday, March 6, 2021, is a 2014-2019 dark gray Mercedes Benz CLS 550 that has sustained front / front passenger side damage. Specifically, the front passenger mirror and front passenger turn signal will be missing.

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 7:17 pm, Turlock Police Officers were dispatched to a collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist on N. Front Street near the intersection of Almond Avenue. Prior to officers’ arrival, the involved vehicle fled the scene.

On Monday, February 08, 2021, at 1:48 pm, Turlock Police Officers were dispatched to a train vs. vehicle collision at the Monte Vista and Golden State railroad crossing in Turlock. In addition to TPD units, medical units from the Turlock Fire Department and AMR also arrived on scene.

On January 28 and 29, 2021, Officers from the Turlock Special Investigations Unit (SIU) participated in a multi-agency Human Trafficking Operation, which is known as Operation Rebuild and Reclaim. The Turlock Police Department wants to remind everyone to be aware of recent fraudulent crimes that have been occurring involving rental properties. Scammers have been posting ads on social media and through third party rental websites posing local properties as available to rent; however, these properties are occupied and/or not available. The suspect has no ownership to these properties whatsoever.

On Sunday, September 8, 2019, at approximately 1:06 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a call of a large fight in the area of North Broadway and West Main Street. Officers arrived on scene and located a female victim in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle, which immediately fled the area.

On Monday, November 16, 2020, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Lander Avenue after receiving multiple calls of a shooting that had occurred. The victim, Joel Lopez Guzman, a 39 year-old male from Turlock, had been shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local area hospital.

On Friday, January 1, 2021, at approximately 1:23 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the Venice Motel in the 1100 block of North Golden State Boulevard for a report of an aggravated assault.

On Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at approximately 8:44 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to assist the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department on a Be On The Look-Out (BOL) for occupants in a white sedan who were seen shooting outside city limits, in the area of Berkeley Road and Alderson Road.

On May 20, 2020, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call reporting that someone had been shot in the 4300 block of Cherry Blossom Lane. Officers responded and discovered a deceased male at the scene.

**UPDATE** At approximately 3:20 p.m., the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) located Ernesto Covarrubias, Jr. in the area of Mitchell Avenue and East Hawkeye Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Turlock Police Department Detectives.

Turlock, California. – The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) is launching a new education campaign encouraging drivers to drive at a safe, legal speed.

On Monday, November 16, 2020, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Lander Avenue after receiving multiple calls of a shooting that had occurred. The victim, Joel Lopez Guzman, a 39 year-old male from Turlock, had been shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local area hospital.

On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 5:22 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a call of an injury collision in the intersection of Lander Ave. and Linwood Ave. between a silver Ford SUV and a red Honda Civic. Officers arrived on scene and discovered an 11-year old female patient from the Honda Civic had suffered major injuries, as a result of the crash, and was immediately transported to a local area hospital where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, acting on a tip received from the Turlock Police Departments Drug Hotline, Detectives from the Turlock Police Department served a search warrant in the 1000 block of S. Tegner Rd. That search warrant resulted in the discovery of nearly 300 individually packaged and processed one-pound bags of marijuana and 17 marijuana plants.

On Thursday, October 22, 2020, at approximately 8:50 a.m., Detectives from the Turlock Police Department served a search warrant in the 3000 block of Village Park Ct. The investigation began back in July of 2020 when Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) received an anonymous tip regarding criminal activity and a possible illegal marijuana cultivation at a residence.

Turlock, California – The safety of everyone traveling is the focus of a grant awarded to the Turlock Police Department. The $60,500 dollar grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) will assist in the Turlock Police Department’s efforts to reduce deaths and injuries on City of Turlock roads.

On Friday, September 25, 2020, at approximately 2:23 a.m., the Turlock Fire Department responded to the 1000 block of N. Olive Ave. for a possible structure fire. Fire crews arrived on scene and discovered a portion of the fence and a tree were on fire in the alley at the 1000 block of Kenwood Ave. The fence was located on west side of the alley, which is within the jurisdiction of Stanislaus County. The fire was extinguished and fire crews cleared the scene. According to a representative with the Turlock Fire Department, the fire began as a debris fire in the alley which spread to the fence and trees.

On Monday, September 7, 2020, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the 200 block of N. Tully Road and discovered a shooting had occurred. The victim, Mario Meza, 26 year-old male from Modesto, had been shot and later succumbed to his injuries while in surgery at an area hospital.

On Monday, September 7, 2020, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the 200 block of N. Tully Road and discovered a shooting had occurred. The victim, Mario Meza, 26 year-old male from Modesto, had been shot and later succumbed to his injuries while in surgery at an area hospital.

On Monday, September 7, 2020, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received multiple calls reporting gunfire at a hotel in the 200 block of N. Tully Rd. Officers responded to the scene and located a Hispanic male who had suffered a single gunshot wound. That male was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during surgery.

Turlock Police Detectives arrested Richard Merrill, a 25 year old male from Turlock, for attempt homicide in the 3400 block of Rochester Court in Turlock.

Turlock, California – On August 24, 2020, the Turlock Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers that are violating the state’s hands-free cell phone law.

On August 13, 2020, at approximately 7:53 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of an injury collision that involved several vehicles in the area of Highway 99 and West Canal Drive.

Turlock, California. – As we approach the 4th of July holiday, the Turlock Police Department encourages the public to be responsible and safe over the Independence Day Weekend by not driving impaired.

On Thursday, October 11, 2018, at approximately 8:55 P.M., Turlock Police Department received a 9-1-1 phone call advising of a drive by shooting that had just occurred in the 300 block of W. Linwood Avenue. The caller stated that two people had been shot. Multiple police officers responded to the scene and arrived within minutes of the initial 9-1-1 phone call. Upon arrival, officers located a young adult male who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. No other injured persons were located. Paramedics, who had been parked nearby when the shooting occurred, quickly arrived on scene, however, the victim had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The victim has been identified as Johnny Wilson (18yr from Turlock).

On Thursday, October 18, 2018, at approximately 2:13 A.M., Turlock Police Department received several phone calls advising of a vehicle found stopped near the intersection of Fulkerth Road and Highway 99. The vehicle had obvious signs of having been shot at multiple times. Inside the vehicle, callers located two victims; the apparent driver and his occupant, who were deceased. Multiple police officers responded to the scene and located the victims, both of whom had been shot. Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

Turlock, California – The Turlock Police Department is reminding fans attending Super Bowl watch parties to get a safe ride home after the game.

On January 29, 2020, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received calls reporting that someone had just been shot in the 1100 block of N. Golden State Blvd.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Turlock Police Department received calls of a pedestrian down in the roadway in the 1200 block of East Avenue that had just been struck by a vehicle. Bystanders began life saving measures until police officers and medical aid arrived and took over. Unfortunately, the victim, a 78 year old woman, succumbed to her injuries on scene. The driver remained on scene and is being cooperative with this investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this incident.

Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Turlock Police Department received a report of an incident that occurred between a juvenile student and an unknown male subject near Dutcher Middle School.
