Turlock City Fire Department responded to reports of a working structure fire on the 300 block of Lander Avenue near Castor Street at 6:39 P.M. on October 3, 2019.Turlock City Fire crews arrived on scene to find an outbuilding behind a residence fully involved in fire and spreading to a commercial business next door. The large fire was also threatening several power lines directly over the involved building.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to stop the fire’s progress and worked to ensure there was no fire spread inside or on top of the adjacent business or main residence. T.I.D. arrived on scene to assist firefighters with securing the power to the threatened overhead power lines to ensure safety to the public and firefighters. The rapid and coordinated work of fire crews extinguished the fire in the outbuilding and prevented major damage to the adjacent commercial business.
The fire destroyed one outbuilding and caused minor exterior damage to the adjacent business. No injuries to civilians or firefighters occurred.
Turlock City Fire Department responded with two engines, Squad 32, Utility 5, and a battalion chief. Ceres Fire Department responded with one engine and a battalion chief as part of a resource sharing agreement and assisted with city coverage along with the Turlock Rural Fire Protection District while city resources remained committed to the incident. Turlock Irrigation District responded to assist with securing utilities and an AMR unit responded to provide medical care to possible victims and provide firefighter safety.
