Press Release: Gang Related Assault in Turlock leads to Multi-Jurisdictional Operation with Five Arrests

On Sunday, May 1, 2022, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of East Main Street. Before the officers arrived on scene, Dispatch received a second call from a Turlock resident reporting he, too, had been assaulted by the same group of individuals. Evidence later confirmed it was an unprovoked attack that left the adult male victim with serious bodily injuries to his face and torso.

Officers responded to the residence and checked the area but were not able to locate anyone from the group. Officers continued their investigation and learned the group that assaulted the resident was associated with a criminal street gang, however, the victim was not. The investigation also revealed this crime was committed to further the gang.

On Monday, May 2, 2022, Investigators with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Turlock Detectives partnered together on this case. Through hours of investigation, they were able to identify the responsible parties and obtain warrants for their arrest.

This morning, with the help of multiple local law enforcement agencies, these warrants were served by SWAT teams at three Turlock homes and one home in the city of Modesto. Five subjects arrested were identified as Jose Aguilar, 29-years old, Turlock resident, Vincente Ruiz, 41-years old, Modesto resident, Arthur Peralta, 30-years old, Turlock resident, Angelica Lopez, 33-years old, Turlock resident and Adrian Peralta, 25- years old, Turlock resident. Adrian Peralta was not believed to have been involved in the attack and his charges were as a result of evidence located during the search of his residence.
