CHILD LOCATED SAFE, SUSPECT ARRESTED IN PATERNAL KIDNAPPING ON MOTHER’S DAY

On Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 10:22 pm, Turlock Police Dispatch received a report of a kidnapping in progress in the 600 block of Geer Road. The suspect, Alisha Gonzalez, a 26 year old female from Turlock, had kidnapped her juvenile child whom she does not have legal custody of. The child was at a relative’s house visiting, when Gonzalez arrived and put the juvenile in the back seat of her vehicle. Before Gonzalez could drive away, another adult family member got into the vehicle to prevent Gonzalez from leaving alone with the child. Gonzalez drove away in a gray Nissan Murano and later pushed the adult family member out of the vehicle.

Information of the kidnapping was broadcasted to multiple nearby agencies, including the California Highway Patrol who issued an Endangered Missing Advisory Alert. Gonzalez and the child were eventually located in Gonzalez’s vehicle early this morning, Monday, May 10, 2021, at Lake Don Pedro. Gonzalez barricaded herself in the vehicle with the child and was, eventually, taken into custody by Deputies of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. The child was located in the backseat of the vehicle and was unharmed.

Gonzalez was booked in the Stanislaus County Jail for child concealment and kidnapping.

Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Officer Phillip Kauffman at (209) 656-3155.
