Turlock Launches Ribbons of HOPE Campaign Mayor Bublak Joins Jessica’s House in EffortTurlock Mayor Amy Bublak and Nancy Daley from Jessica’s House in Turlock launched the “Ribbons for Hope” Campaign today. This campaign symbolizes the unifying of Turlock residents struggling with the impacts of COVID-19 by hanging ribbons everywhere throughout Turlock.
“I wanted to do something to bring Turlock together during this unprecedented time,” said Nancy Daley of Jessica’s House. “I reached out to the Mayor to ask if she would be willing to help me get the word out about making ribbons to demonstrate unity and support of one another as Turlock residents.”
This Coronavirus, COVID-19, has claimed the lives of 15,000 in the United States, and more than 24,000 currently have recovered. Since the outbreak started, about 425,000 cases have been diagnosed in the United States. More than 100 years before Coronavirus, the Spanish flu pandemic infected an estimated one-third of the global population.
Stanislaus County, as of April 9, 2020, has 103 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, more than 2,200 negative test results, and no deaths as a result of this virus.
“I love Nancy’s idea of this ‘Ribbons for Hope’ campaign for our city,” stated Mayor Bublak. “Tying ribbons around trees, hanging them on businesses, homes, lamp posts – signifies that we are all connected in our humanity and we need each other – especially during these difficult times. I am excited to see what our neighborhoods and businesses do with this campaign.”
Mayor Bublak and Nancy Daley encourage everyone to tie a ribbon around a tree, hang a ribbon on your front door, and place ribbons in front of businesses as a sign of unification and ultimately renewal when this time has passed. They encourage families to make this a fun project and find creative ways to show everyone the spirit of the city of Turlock.
If you have social media accounts, please upload your pictures of your ribbon(s), and use the hashtag #TurlockRibbonsforHope and #TurlockStrong.
